JAMMU: Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said goodbye to his fellow soldiers during a moving farewell event at Police Headquarters. He expressed his sincere gratitude for the long-lasting friendship between the Jammu Kashmir Police and the army. Lt Gen Dwivedi emphasised that the two forces are symbiotic, saying, “We work together, sweat together, and bleed together.” Recognising that collaboration is essential in the fight against terrorism, Lt Gen Dwivedi praised the unmatched synergy that the J&K Police and the army have developed over the course of 40 years of devoted service. He was upbeat about the collaboration going forward and projected even bigger achievements.As Lt Gen. Dwivedi takes up his new position as Vice Chief of Army Staff, he expressed his unwavering support for the J&K Police. This was also expressed by R K Goyal FC (ACS), who wished the departing commander well and commended him for his excellent leadership. RR Swain, the Director General of Police J&K, reiterated these remarks, thanking Lt Gen Dwivedi for his cooperation and praising his outstanding service. “A professional soldier par excellence,” Swain said, highlighting the relationship with the respected officer and the source of inspiration.Swain bemoaned his departure and expressed optimism for ongoing engagement, highlighting the deep trust and relationship that Lt Gen Dwivedi had built with the Jammu and Kashmir Police. This underscores the importance of collaborative efforts for the growth of the region. Lt Gen Dwivedi awarded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Disc—a symbol of their dedication to duty—to ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain and IGP (POS) PHQ, B S Tuti in appreciation of their exceptional service. Officers’ exchange of mementos, which stand for a common dedication to the security and well-being of the area, strengthened their relationship even more.
