JAMMU, June 8: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said Jammu and Kashmir has been facing pain of terrorism for last 30-35 years and over 50,000 innocent persons have become victims of terror violence but now Pakistan has been taught a lesson by the Indian Armed Forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Addressing the gathering after laying foundation stone of Dhunseri Polyfilm Industrial Unit at village Dohlian Jattan in Kathua district today, Sinha said India tried all options but our neighbor (a reference towards Pakistan) is such that it was not ready to mend its ways till it was taught a lesson.
“I was scheduled to come to this function (foundation stone laying ceremony of industrial unit) on April 30. The visit had been finalized, but on April 22 the terrorists sent by Pakistan killed 26 innocent civilians at Baisaran in tourist resort of Pahalgam,” he recalled and said Jammu and Kashmir has been facing pain of terrorism for 30 to 35 years now in which more than 50,000 innocent persons have become the victims of violence.
The Lieutenant Governor said on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, the Indian Armed Forces on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Operation Sindoor but it was decided that no civilian or military establishments will be targeted and only terror infrastructure will be hit in Pakistan.
“Nine terror camps were destroyed and Pakistan was told that action was aimed only towards terrorists and their perpetrators. However, Pakistan took action taken against the terrorists as action on the country and started hitting civilian areas especially in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Uri, Tangdhar etc with shelling,” he said.
Sinha said many civilians were martyred in Pakistani shelling and then our Armed Forces through their actions made it clear to Pakistan that their no installation is out of our reach. And within three days, Pakistan was brought to its knees while the Indian Armed Forces achieved their targets.
He said entire world saw bravery of the Indian Armed Forces as well as the miracles of ‘Make in India’ products.
“Terror attack on tourists was an unholy attempt (by Pakistan) to hit economy of Jammu and Kashmir, divide people on religions and destroy tourism,” the Lieutenant Governor said, adding two days back Prime Minister Narendra Modi during inauguration of train service to Kashmir made it clear that development of J&K will not stop at any cost.
Sinha urged the people to remain aware of nefarious designs of the adversaries who are making desperate attempts to disrupt Jammu and Kashmir’s flourishing economy, industries and tourism sectors by trying to divide the society on religious lines.
The Indian Armed Forces launched major action against terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) on the intervening night of May 6 and 7 destroying nine major terror installations. The strikes were launched to avenge killing of 26 civilians including 25 tourists and a local by the terrorists at Baisaran in tourist resort of Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22.
