ANANTNAG: Chief of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, stated on Saturday that the actions of the Jammu and Kashmir administration suggest that the Supreme Court may rule against the nation’s interests in cases pertaining to Article 370 of the Constitution. “Since Friday night, we are witnessing that lists containing the names of the workers of different parties, especially the PDP, are being taken through police stations and it seems that such a decision is to come which is not in favour of this country and Jammu and Kashmir, but only to further the BJP’s agenda and hence, some precautionary measures are being taken, which is unfortunate,” Mufti said to reporters in Anantnag. She said that the supreme court should make sure that it upholds the integrity of the nation and its Constitution rather than advancing the agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to Mufti, the court’s ruling should make it abundantly evident that the BJP-led Centre’s August 5, 2019, decision to repeal Article 370’s provisions was “illegal, unconstitutional,” and that it went against Jammu and Kashmir and the promises given to the local populace.Initially, it took a long time for the Supreme Court to hear the cases. It required five years. Then, in earlier rulings, the Supreme Court itself declared that no one, with the exception of the Jammu and Kashmir Constituent Assembly, could repeal Article 370. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated, “I believe the decision should be simple that whatever was done on August 5, 2019 was illegal, unconstitutional, against Jammu and Kashmir and the promises made to the people here.”
