JERUSALEM/NEW DELHI, Nov 21: Ahead of the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, which claimed the lives of over 160 people, including several Israeli citizens, Israel on Tuesday designated Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba as a “Terror Organisation.” “The state of Israel has listed Lashkar-e-Taiba as a Terror Organisation to symbolise the marking of the 15th year of commemoration of the Mumbai terror attacks,” the Israel Embassy stated in a statement released in New Delhi.
“The state of Israel has formally completed all necessary procedures and has satisfied all required checks and regulations to the result of adding Lashkar-e-Taiba to the Israeli list of illegal terror organisations, despite not being requested to do so by the Government of India,” the statement read. On November 26, 2008, ten Pakistani terrorists entered the southern regions of Mumbai by sea. They then launched multiple attacks against various targets, such as a Jewish centre and a Chabad house. The attacks resulted in the indiscriminate death of 166 people, including several Israelis and 18 security personnel. “Lashkar-e-Taiba is a horrific and murderous terror group that has killed numerous people, including hundreds of Indian civilians. The statement went on, “Its horrific acts on November 26, 2008, continue to reverberate through all nations and societies that seek peace.”(Agencies)
