Abdul Wahid, who is in his early 20s, was initially thought to be a citizen of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) who had unintentionally crossed over to this side before being apprehended by the Army on Monday in the village of Dabi-Basuni, which is located in the Balakote sector, just in front of the boundary fence.Wahid, an Afghan national, was turned over to police late on Tuesday night. The purpose of his interrogation is to determine why he entered this side, a police official stated.
The official added that this was the first arrest of an Afghan citizen along the LoC in the Mendhar subdivision of Poonch, but nothing incriminating was found in his hands.
According to the officials, after finishing Wahid’s questioning, the Army turned him over to the police in accordance with the law.
Two soldiers from the Army were seen on camera assisting the disabled man to exit the car and enter the police station.
