SRINAGAR: According to a defence official on Sunday, security forces killed two terrorists in the Uri region of Jammu and Kashmir, foiling an attempt to infiltrate along the Line of Control. A defence spokesperson headquartered in Srinagar said that troops were placed on high alert and the counter-infiltration grid was reinforced due to specific indications from intelligence agencies and J-K Police regarding probable infiltration in the Uri sector by heavily armed terrorists from across the LoC. A number of armed terrorists made an effort to infiltrate across the Line of Control by taking advantage of unfavourable weather conditions, such as continuous rain and low visibility, he claimed. On Saturday at approximately 3:30 pm, the group was stopped by vigilant military personnel, leading to a fierce gunfight. He stated that there was an intense gunfight that lasted until the final light and that two terrorists were killed. According to the spokesman, the remaining terrorists and the terrorists’ dead bodies withdrew to the opposing side of the Line of Control. All through the night, monitoring was maintained in the region. A comprehensive examination of the scene on Sunday resulted in the discovery of telltale signs and heavy war-like caches, including two AK series rifles, six pistols, four Chinese grenades, blankets, and two bloodstained bags holding Pakistani and Indian banknotes, Pakistani medications, and Pakistani food, according to the spokesperson.According to their own judgement, the discovery of two bloodstained bags indicates that at least two terrorists suffered severe injuries, which compelled them to abandon their shipment and cross the Line of Control. The search has been halted due to bad weather; it will restart when the weather clears,” he stated.
