NEW DELHI: On Sunday, India dispatched 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and over 6.5 tonnes of medical help to the Palestinian people. The cargo was transported by an Indian Air Force C-17 transport plane. The aircraft is flying the relief to Egypt’s El-Arish airport. India provides humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. “A spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, Arindam Bagchi, announced on “X” that an IAF C-17 aircraft carrying around 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies for the people of Palestine is leaving for El-Arish airport in Egypt.“Among other necessary items, the material includes essential life-saving medications, surgical supplies, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets,” he stated. Three days prior, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed condolences to President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority on the deaths of civilians in a Gaza hospital and reaffirmed India’s long-standing “principled position” on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Following this, India provided the supplies. During a phone call on Thursday, the prime minister informed the president of the Palestine Authority that New Delhi will keep sending aid to the Palestinian people. India has contributed to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in order to support Palestine and Palestinian refugees.
