SRINAGAR, Jan 25: In 33 years, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has lost more than 1600 personnel in the Pakistan-sponsored proxy war, making it the largest force among J&K’s security forces, according to Director General R R Swain on Thursday. Speaking with reporters at Jammu’s Police Headquarters, the DGP stated that the departure of 1600 employees serves as a standard and a watermark for the level of dedication to the country’s security efforts. In addition to giving their lives in the line of duty, many also experienced injuries, displacement, and all types of intimidation and vilification, according to DGP.He said that many people who served in the police force and contributed to the national security effort in Jammu and Kashmir experienced attacks on their families and the loss of family members. According to the DGP, they have accepted this and have emphasised time and time again that the moment has come for the J&K Police and others to try documenting these experiences, both the individual accounts and the joint efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and members in the battle against terror.DGP went on to say that they are stories, sagas of untold tales that aren’t very well documented very often. In order to acknowledge the contributions and difficulties faced by individuals engaged in the national security effort in Jammu and Kashmir, he supported efforts to document individual and collective accounts in the fight against terror. The President of India and the Indian Government have awarded 72 gallantry medals to the J&K Police, according to the DGP. “According to the Ministry of Home Affairs website, we are the top-winning state police forces for gallantry medals,” he continued.DGP R R Swain complimented all officers and personnel and congratulated the prize winners, expressing his admiration and congrats. DGP gave an assurance that all security procedures are in place when discussing the Republic Day security preparations. Meetings with the army, the CRPF-led CAPF, and other intelligence services have all taken place at different levels. “We have made sure the location is secure and taken into account any possible danger situations. We urge everyone to celebrate with all of their might, and we guarantee that it will be a peaceful celebration,” he continued.
