JAMMU: According to officials, the police started the process of cancelling the registration of 1,378 cars that were involved in illicit mining operations in the Jammu district on Monday. 1,378 multiple vehicles involved in these illegal operations have been seized by the police as a result of their decisive action against illegal mining activities, they said. According to an officer, the relevant department has started the process of cancelling the registration of any vehicles linked to these unlawful mining operations. He continued by saying that it was discovered that the seized cars were actively engaged in illicit mining operations, flouting environmental laws and endangering the surrounding ecosystem severely.Under Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinod Kumar, “illegal mining will not be tolerated as a means of exploitation of our natural resources.” According to him, the police’s actions are intended to stop these illegal activities and discourage people from taking part in activities that endanger public safety and the environment. Declaring that the Jammu Police is making every effort to look into and stop these illegal operations, the SSP threatened to cancel the registration of any cars whose owners or operators were found to be involved in illegal mining activities. “Swift and stringent measures are being undertaken to ensure that vehicles involved in illegal mining are promptly removed from circulation, reinforcing the commitment to preserving the environment and upholding legal norms,” he stated. The SSP went on to say that anyone with relevant knowledge of similar illicit activity is urged to come forward and help law enforcement protect the integrity of the natural resources.
