SHILLONG: The Indian Air Force said in an official statement that the Eastern Air Command (EAC) was conducting round-the-clock operational, maintenance, and other crucial activities as part of Exercise Poorvi Akash today. From October 30 to November 5, the Indian Air Force’s Eastern Air Command will carry out Ex Poorvi Akash, an annual command-level exercise. The Indian Air Force undertook a range of operational, maintenance, and administrative tasks on Wednesday as part of the exercise to assess readiness and undertake realistic training. Tejas, the country’s own Light Combat Aircraft, is taking part in the drill as well.Along with a number of other combat platforms and systems taking part in the exercise, the native LCH Prachand made one of its first landings at a high elevation ALG during which it conducted combined training with ground forces. In keeping with his current tour, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the Chief of Air Staff, visited a number of forward area locations in the Northeast earlier today. He spoke with airmen and gave them praise for their operational readiness. The Air Force Chief visited many IAF deployments, including those in Tuting, Ziro, Mechuka, Pasighat, and Farkawn. He was also informed on the operational deployment of the detachments in the ongoing Ex Poorvi Akash during his visits.Using air power in all of its forms is part of the drill. The statement claims that in the challenging steep terrain, the exercise also involves coordinated operations with the Eastern Command (EC) of the Indian Army. IAF Garuds and the Indian Air Force’s Special Forces (SF) are engaged in special missions, and the entire Eastern Sector has been mobilised. IA and IAF Air Defence forces are being deployed to simulate realistic combat scenarios.
