SRINAGAR: On Tuesday, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the head of the Indian Air Force, travelled to forward sites in the Uri and Kupwara sectors that are close to the Line of Control (LoC). According to an official, the IAF head stopped by the LoC to celebrate Dussehra with the IAF and Army servicemen. He stated that the IAF chief’s visit carried on the custom of senior government ministers and members of the Army brass celebrating holidays with soldiers in forward regions. “On the occasion of Dussehra, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari today visited forward locations near the Line of Control in the Uri and Kupwara sectors in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the Indian Air Force and Indian Army troops deployed there,” according to an official.He added that during Dussehra, the visiting Air Chief Marshal had praised and encouraged the soldiers stationed along the Line of Control in north Kashmir. ACM Chaudhari met troops stationed in forward regions along the Line of Control on Diwali of last year. Notably, the Air Chief Marshal’s visit occurs after Pakistani snipers wounded a soldier in the Karai sector of the Kupwara area last week. The Indian Army had increased border monitoring in the Kupwara bordering district after the fire incident. Two days ago, security forces in the Uri sector stopped an attempt by two infiltrating terrorists to proceed along the Line of Control, resulting in their deaths during the increased surveillance.
