Mattan, Jul 30 : As part of the Banmass Mela, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits came to the Martand Sun Temple in J&K on Sunday to perform “pind daan” and pray for the comfort of their deceased ancestors’ souls. The Anantnag district administration and the local Muslims, according to the president of the mela management committee, Ashok Siddha, have provided unwavering support for the organisation of the event.
“I am thankful to the locals. The Muslim brethren has supported us.I’ve been doing this for the past four years, and I’m grateful to the Muslim community for their support. I am also thankful to the district administration,” Siddha said.Every year, he claimed, the Muslim community in Kashmir participates in the Krishna Jhoola celebration held by the local Hindu community at the temple.
“The Muslim community enthusiastically supports the Krishna Jhoola celebration, which we also observe. Fruits are distributed here. This is an illustration of racial harmony and peace, according to Siddha.
Although the festival is celebrated every three years, he claimed that he had not witnessed such a surge since 1990.”We have this every three years, but since 1990, I have never seen this many people come. We have built restrooms for the devotees as well as a ghat (for pooja),” Siddha continued.
Meenakshi, a devotee who participated in the “pind daan,” was full of admiration for the citizens.
“We perform pind daan for our ancestors in order to bless their souls. The natives are nice, and we get along well with them,” she remarked. An elderly Kashmiri Pandit named Jawahar Lal claimed that “the locals have extended cooperation” to the minority group.
According to a Muslim resident of Mattan, the town in south Kashmir “has been and will continue to be an abode of peace and communal harmony.”
