History cannot be buried or changed by removing names: Farooq Abdullah

SRINAGAR : Farooq Abdullah, head of the National Conference, said on Friday that history cannot be “emerged” or “changed” by erasing the names of those who were not affiliated with the BJP. “They are deleting the names of Nehru and Indira Gandhi. When asked why the Jammu and Kashmir administration removed “Sher,” the popular name of his father and founder of the National Conference (NC), Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, from the Kashmir International Convention Centre, Abdullah said, “They are removing the names of every leader who is not a part of them, but history does not change.Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre was the name of the facility on the Dal Lake shoreline. The government has reportedly eliminated the 800-year history of Mughal control from textbooks, but “does it mean Mughals were not here?” asked the president of the National Conference. “What will people say about the Taj Mahal when they visit it? Who built it? They’ll ask who built the Red Fort when they arrive there. What will they say when they visit the Jamia Masjid, Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung Tomb, and Qutub Minar? History will not remain buried; it will come to light.History will endure, but we and these individuals will vanish just like everyone else. In response to a question about the Supreme Court hearing a number of petitions against the repeal of Article 370, Abdullah stated that everyone was submitting their case before the highest court. “The Supreme Court has previously rendered two decisions in favour of (Article) 370. We are all optimistic that they would consider our talk (arguments) fairly and provide justice to the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, said the lawyer who presented the case to them. When Ghulam Nabi Azad, the head of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, claimed that the majority of Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir had converted from Hinduism, the NC president responded that the former Congressman is aware of history. I am unable to speak for him; he must explain the necessity of his words, he said. The history of our state and its residents, according to the NC president, “is very different.” “There is no question that there was a time when there were Hindus there; but, when Buddhism was gaining popularity, they all converted to Buddhism. When Buddhism vanished, they became Buddhists once more. That’s a lengthy history, Abdulllah stated. You must keep in mind that when (sufi saint) Ameer-e-Kabeer arrived in Kashmir, he introduced both Islam and trade, allowing those who were truly downtrodden to work with their hands and earn decent pay. The former Union minister asserted that the Hindu system at the time “divided” people between superior and lowly Brahmins. The lowly Brahmin was mistreated because he was denied access to the temple. Today, Dalits experience the same things that happened to the lower Brahmins. The lowly Brahmin was mistreated because he wasn’t even allowed to enter the temple. Today, Dalits experience the same things that happened to the lower Brahmins. They converted to Islam when they realised that it had arrived in a world where there is no distinction between the wealthy and the poor, everyone is treated equally, there are facilities for everyone, and there is no separation among people, according to Abdullah. “That is the background. The entire Quran introduced a justice system that did not previously exist, therefore that justice system made people more and more aware of what Islam is and caused them to become Muslims, and that is the history of Islam, he continued. The NC president said that it was a complete falsehood when Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha claimed that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the head of the Hurriyat Conference, was free to go wherever he pleased. “Everything you’ve read is a complete falsehood. Mirwaiz is forbidden from going outside, even to the Jamia Masjid. How long will they continue to lie? Why have (security) personnel been stationed outside Mirwaiz’s door when he is apparently free? Abdallah enquired. “Are you capable of speaking with Mirwaiz? Mirwaiz is free if you can’t interview him, right? You are there. You already know the facts of the case; I don’t need to explain them to you,” he said.
