GST reforms Diwali, Dussehra gift; show Modi Govt’s sensitivity towards people: Dr Jitendra

UDHAMPUR, Sept 28: Maintaining that new GST reforms is a Diwali and Dussehra gift to the people of India, Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that these reforms reflect Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s sensitivity towards common masses of this country.
Talking to reporters here, today on the sidelines of DISHA meetings, Dr Jitendra Singh said “Earlier in our life time we have heard of increasing taxes by every regime and it is for the first time when the taxes were reduced as this never happened during the past regimes in the country”.Dr Jitendra Singh said it is a record that during the last 11 years of Narendra Modi Government each and every reform introduced by his Government has a huge socio-economic impact to ensure the welfare of the common masses which is the main goal of present regime. He said Modi Government showed its commitment of democratization of education and making it accessible to poor of the poorest in this country.

He said zero tax on essential medicines and minimal tax on toilet items coupled with Ayushman Bharat further shows the commitment of this Government towards the welfare of the common people so that they can be able to get affordable medical treatment. “This all has been done to create an ecosystem for affordable health care for all irrespective of their caste, creed region or religion as our motto is justice to all and appeasement to none,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that from September 22 to September 29 the BJP leaders and party activists including Ministers are visiting the different areas in their localities across the country interacting with shopkeepers members of business community as well as trade organisations seeking their feedback on new reforms. “We seek the feedback from them that what they feel after the new reforms as there could have been no good gift than it for the people of country on the coming festivals of Dussehra and Diwali,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said ease of living is the main objective of every responsible and people’s friendly Government and no other Government except the Narendra Modi could take such a bold and people’s friendly decision.
Dr Jitendra Singh said on some items the tax has been reduced to zero percent. He said as the week long campaign is being run across the country in this regard the shopkeepers and business community members are being asked to paste stickers of selling and purchasing Swadeshi items.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that by reducing GST on books and other study material for students the parents have been given a great relief besides the GST rate on insurance has been reduced to zero percent, he added.
On the election of Mithun Manhas, a J&K cricketer as president of Board Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) unopposed, Dr Jitendra Singh said it is an occasion of celebration for us all that a person belonging to remote part of J&K has attained this prestigious post. “It is indeed a moment of pride for me as we both belong to same Doda district, he added.”
Dr Jitendra Singh said that his election also showed that in Modi Government selection of people is made on the basis of their ability and talent and not on the basis of favouritism as has been a practice during previous regimes. He said “His appointment is an honour for us all and I wish him success in his new endeavour”.
His victory as uncontested showed that all had unanimity in his candidature, the Minister added.
