According to PM Modi, he has been lucky to always have Lal Krishna Advani’s affection and wisdom. “Our nation has chosen to award its wonderful son, former deputy prime minister Shri Lal Krishna Advaniji, with the title of ‘Bharat Ratna’ today. Advaniji has inspired me with his works and services. Advaniji’s award is evidence that the country never forgets those who give their lives in its service. Lal Krishna Advaniji’s devotion and mentoring have been a constant source of blessings for me, PM Modi remarked. PM Modi declared earlier in the day that LK Advani would receive the highest civilian award in the nation. The news that Shri LK Advani Ji will receive the Bharat Ratna makes me very happy.In our conversation, I also congratulated him on receiving this distinction. He is regarded as one of the greatest leaders of our day and has made a significant contribution to India’s progress. His career began at the bottom and he rose to become our Deputy Prime Minister, serving the country. He made a name for himself as both our Home Minister and our Minister of I&B. Since taking power in 2014, the Modi administration has given out seven Bharat Ratnas: Karpoori Thakur, Madan Mohan Malviya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika, and Nanaji Deshmukh. Advani was born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Pakistan. Over the years, he held the position of President of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the longest duration from the party’s founding in 1980. He concluded an almost three-decade career in parliament by serving as Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s home minister and then deputy prime minister (1999–2004). In Sambalpur, Odisha, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and lay the foundation stone for eighteen projects valued at Rs. 68,000 crores on Saturday.
