Srinagar, Jan 13: In a momentous move, the Government has handed 55 kanals of land to Union Education Ministry for establishing up permanent IIM off-campus at Pantha Chowk here. The Administrative Council met on December 26 of last year and accepted the request to transfer state land for the establishment of an IIM off-campus in Srinagar. According to a Revenue Department order, permission has been granted for the free transfer of 55 kanal eight marla of State land under survey no. 1072/1009, located in the Pantha Chowk estate, to the Ministry of Education, Government of India, via IIM Jammu, for the establishment of an IIM campus in Srinagar in accordance with Rule 310 of the General Financial Rules of 2017.The government has also mandated that the Revenue Department resume use of 40 kanals of land that were transferred to IIM for the establishment of an off-campus facility on January 1, 2021. The ruling said that the “Divisional Commissioner Kashmir shall work out modalities for proper utilisation of the resumed land.” Jammu and Kashmir’s IIM was established as part of the Prime Minister’s Development Package for the region.
