World leaders at the two-day summit here praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “decisive leadership” and for promoting the voice of the Global South, sources said on Sunday. India’s G20 chairmanship had ensured some meaningful accomplishments, they added.
The world leaders lauded India’s hospitality and Prime Minister Modi for presiding over a successful summit, saying that the country’s theme of “one earth, one family, one future” resonated well with all the delegates. They also commended India’s hospitality and Prime Minister Modi for his leadership.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was cited as saying at one of the sessions, “When you go around in ‘Bharat Mandapam’ and observe the displays, we can understand what PM Modi, the digital initiative, and technology can achieve –delivering service to people in remote regions of our nations.
According to sources, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov advocated for increasing G20 collaboration based on “the foundation created by the Indian presidency” during the summit, while Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida praised Prime Minister Modi for giving “great leadership” of the G20.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, praised Prime Minister Modi for his hospitality and expressed his hope that the summit will be beneficial for “the only world we have.”
According to insiders, some leaders also thanked the prime minister for “championing the voice of the Global South” and applauded the crucial choice to admit the African Union (AU) to the G20.US President Joe Biden was cited as saying, “The African Union is a critical partner,” in reference to Modi. We are coming together because of you (Modi), keeping us together, and showing us that we can overcome obstacles as a group. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva stated, “Let me congratulate you (Modi) on your wisdom to bring AU to this table.”
Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for including her in the summit and for “raising the voice of the Global South.”
She praised the “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” G20 theme, saying it maintains the value of all lives and the significance of cooperating for a brighter future.
Azali Assoumani, president of the Union of Comoros and chair of the African Union, also praised India for supporting their bid.
While Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte hailed the Indian presidency for putting the Global South at the centre of the grouping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa praised India for its efforts in getting the AU admitted to the G20.
Prime Minister Modi and the Indian people were congratulated by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for their skillful planning of this event.
“Today, when I went to honour my dear (Mahatma) Gandhi, I was moved to tears. Gandhi means a lot to me politically. I live by the philosophy of non-violence,” he declared.
Prime Minister Modi was told that “you have gathered us here to discuss on ‘One Future’ is very important” by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who also stated that “people will remember us for what we accomplish”.
Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the prime minister of Mauritius, praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for the “exceptional opportunity” and the “very successful outcome” of the G20.
The Spanish delegation’s envoy at the summit praised Prime Minister Modi’s “positive approach” and India’s excellent leadership.
The “wonderful arrangement” for the G20 was hailed by the Mexican ambassador, and the Indian hospitality was praised by the Omani envoy.
First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF Gita Gopinath, who met Prime Minister Modi at the G20 dinner, congratulated him for leading a “so successful” @g20org in a post on X. All delegates passionately connected with India’s theme of “one earth, one family, one future.”
Ajay Banga, the head of the World Bank, stated in a statement to reporters following the summit, “I compliment India and its leadership as well as all G20 leaders for ensuring that such a terrific declaration was achieved.”
