UDHAMPUR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched an investigation after flags of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party led by former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, were found tied to balloons in Udhampur, in the second such incident in different locations in Jammu.

The latest incident was reported from village Kirmoo in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district, where a PTI flag attached to balloons was recovered. Police immediately took possession of the flag and initiated a probe. This marks the second incident in the Doda-Udhampur belt in the last three days.

Earlier, on Sunday, a similar incident was reported from Gandoh in Doda district, where a PTI flag was found hanging from a walnut tree, entangled with balloons. Images and videos from the scene showed the flag suspended among the tree branches.

A police official confirmed that security agencies are examining the case from all angles. Officials said that they are assessing the local role as the border doesn’t lie in immediate vicinity.

Last year a Pakistani flag attached to multiple balloons was recovered in Udhampur district only. The flag, along with posters and several red and green balloons, was found hanging from a tree in Sunetar village of Ramnagar tehsil.

About Sunday’s incident, a police official, earlier said, “We are examining whether this was a deliberate act, cross-border mischief, or simply an airborne object carried by the wind.” Such incidents in the past have triggered security alarms.
