Fire triggers LPG cylinders blast, 4 residential houses gutted, 8 persons injured

KISHTWAR, Aug 27: Four residential houses were gutted and eight persons were injured here today in a devastating fire at Astan Bala area in the heart of Kishtwar town near a Ziarat (religious place).
Though cause of the fire was under investigation but some locals informed that the blaze started after a leak in domestic cooking gas cylinder.
Two LPG cylinders exploded during the rescue operation after which the fire spread to adjoining areas.
After noting the blaze locals called fire tenders which reached the spot and successfully put off the fire with the help of Police and local volunteers.
Local MLAs, Sunil Sharma and Shagun Parihar also supervised and assisted the fire extinguishing operation.
Being critical, four of the injured were referred to Government Medical College Doda while others were undergoing treatment at District Hospital Kishtwar.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigations.
