Fake IAS, IPS officers arrested

SRINAGAR Aug 7: Police detained a couple for pretending to be members of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and defrauding individuals under the guise of offering them jobs.
According to the police, they defrauded numerous people by promising jobs, promotions, and other benefits in exchange for lakhs of rupees.
They have been identified as Manmohan Ganjoo and Ayoush Koul Ganjoo, the late Girdhari Lal and Ayoush Koul Ganjoo of Baghat, Srinagar.Manmohan Ganjoo is a police officer on leave. Laptops and mobile devices were seized, along with his own order of entrance into the IPS, which contained numerous fraudulent transfer and appointment orders. Cash that was fraudulently owned, jewellery, and other incriminating items were also retrieved from his home, according to the police.
A case has been filed in Sadder Police Station under Sections 170,419,420,467,468,471 of the IPC (FIR No. 73/2023).
“So far, three victims have come forward to accuse this pair of fraud. The general public is urged not to fall victim to such con artists. If victims believe they were taken advantage of by this “conman-couple,” they should contact the police.
