Nagpur, Sept 11 : Anurag Thakur, a union minister, lashed out at Congressman Rahul Gandhi and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for being mute about attempts to “insult” Sanatan Dharma on Monday.
The leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made his comments amid a political controversy when DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin accused Sanatan Dharma of encouraging racial and social discrimination and called for its eradication.
Sanatan Dharma was also compared by DMK leader A Raja to socially stigmatised diseases like leprosy and HIV.In response to a question from local reporters regarding Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that the BJP does not practise Hinduism and that he has read the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, Thakur replied, “The opposition should break its silence on insults to Sanatan Dharma.” “The opposition consists solely of those who denigrate Sanatan Dharma. This demonstrates their mindset and continuous attempts to disparage the Sanatan Dharma, the minister alleged.
In response to a question regarding Rahul Gandhi’s remarks regarding the India vs. Bharat argument, Thakur stated that some people have a propensity of “spreading fear and confusion and telling lies.” He said, “They have done this their entire lives.”Regarding Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), who said that a “Godhra-like” incident would occur following the dedication of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Thakur asserted that certain people had forgotten their ideologies out of a desire for power.
“I’m not sure what Balasaheb, the late Shiv Sena founder and father of Uddhav Thackeray, would think of today’s actions and Uddhav ji’s lust for power. When so many things were said regarding Sanatan Dharma, Rahul ji and Uddhav ji remained silent, the Thakur continued.
On Sunday, Thackeray asserted that a “Godhra-like” incident would occur during the “return journey” of the vast number of people who are anticipated to converge in Ayodhya from all across the country for the Ram temple’s inauguration.Prior to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in January 2024, the temple is anticipated to be inaugurated.
In Gujarat’s Godhra station on February 27, 2002, ‘karsevaks’ returning from Ayodhya on the Sabarmati Express were attacked and their train coach set ablaze, resulting in multiple fatalities and widespread rioting throughout the state.
