JAMMU: Officials claim that the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department received Rs 16.10 lakh from the e-auction of ornamental licence plates. They claimed that Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta recently unveiled the e-auction, “faceless” service offered by the Motor Vehicle Department. According to officials, as of Tuesday afternoon, about 81 people have registered online to participate in the first round of online bidding for rare registration numbers. During the auction, which featured numbers from 0001 to 9999, the numbers JK02DF0786 and JK02DF0001 both brought in Rs 1,511,000.They claim that the fancy numbers have been divided into numerous groups, each of which has different reserve and base price. They said that the new online facility would boost system transparency while also ensuring that the person’s identity would remain secret until the actual auction process started. According to the new strategy, candidate can submit payments online via the department’s website, according to Prasanna Ramaswamy, secretary of the transport department.
