JAMMU: Ramesh Kumar, the Divisional Commissioner for Jammu, presided over a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and pertinent Officers on Saturday to assess the progress made in resolving pending pension cases, the PMAY Urban/Rural programme, Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, and other related matters. The Director General of Social Welfare Department informed the Div Com of the district-by-district situation after reviewing pension case clearances. The Division Committee took serious note of the backlog and ordered the Deputy Commissioners to finish all open cases in two days. The Div Com also examined the land distribution to the landless under PMAY-G/Urban. The number of claims that were received and those that were denied following verification was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioners. The DCs were given deadlines by the Div Com to finish their allotments.The Div Com also went over the districts’ plans for organising Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The Div Com was informed by the Director of School Education in Jammu that competitions for quizzes, paintings, debates, and essays had been planned across all districts. He further mentioned that a Shanti Rally had been organised, which started in Poonch and ended today in Jammu after travelling across all of the districts in the Jammu division. It was disclosed that both professors and kids took part in the Rally. The Div Com advised setting up control centres in each district and instructed DCs to send pictures of activity to the site.Ashok Sharma, the director of school education, Vivek Sharma, the director general of the social welfare department, Pankaj Katoch, the additional commissioner for Jammu, Avleen Kour, Munish Dutta, Angrej Singh, and other relevant officers were present for the meeting. Deputy commissioners and officers from line departments also participated via video conferencing.
