KATRA: In its ongoing campaign against smuggling and unlawful activities, District Police Reasi today thwarted an attempt to transport illicit liquor during routine checking at Balini Naka.

A police team deployed at the checkpoint intercepted an individual travelling from Reasi towards Katra carrying a blue polythene bag. On questioning, he identified himself as Pawan Kumar, son of Chander Posh, resident of Searli, presently at Katra, District Reasi, aged 24 years.

Upon thorough checking of the bag, the police team recovered 18 quarter bottles (250 ml each) of JK Special Whisky. As the accused failed to produce any valid permit for transportation, the liquor was seized and taken into custody as case property.
