SAMBA: Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP), paid a visit to the Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in Vijaypur on Monday. The DGP launched a brand-new moot court during his visit, an essential addition to the training curriculum. This mock trial intends to give police officers and trainees a practical understanding of court procedures, assisting them in spotting any flaws in their inquiries. The DGP started the “Amrit Kalash Yatra” and a plantation drive as part of the national campaign “Meri Matti Mera Desh.” The DGP initiated the Amrit Kalash Yatra upon his arrival and assisted senior officers in planting seedlings inside the training facility. The opening of the moot court, which will be a useful training tool, was the highlight of the visit. The event featured a live trial of a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case in the moot court conducted by the PTTI professors. The moot court simulated trials would improve the trainees’ and police personnel’s comprehension of court proceedings, honing their abilities to solve any gaps in investigations, DGP Dilbag Singh said in his admiration of the work of PTTI Vijaypur. In order to increase the professionalism and expertise of the prosecution, witnesses, and investigating officers, particularly in instances involving NDPS and UAPA, he urged more of these moot court mock drills in the future.The DGP emphasised the value of persistent efforts to raise the percentage of horrific crimes that are successfully prosecuted. He stressed the importance of thorough UAPA and NDPS case investigations in the fight against militancy and drug-related problems in the Union Territory. He declared, “Investigations must continue until the court’s ultimate decision. As part of ongoing efforts by the Police Headquarters to give investigation officers general understanding of court proceedings and aid them in identifying any gaps during the investigating process, moot courtrooms have been established in police training institutions. Shiv Kumar Sharma, the principal of PTTI Vijaypur, and the PTTI employees were praised by DGP Dilbag Singh for their efforts to improve the institution’s capabilities. Several senior officers, including DIGs and other dignitaries, attended the first event and acknowledged the value of the moot court in educating the upcoming generation of law enforcement officials.
