JAMMU: The families of ten police officers who have passed away will receive Rs 2.20 crore in special welfare relief, according to Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain. Furthermore, welfare loans totaling more than Rs 1.51 crore have been approved for 119 active police officers, in addition to financial support of Rs 2 lakh for the Next of Kin (Nok) of two police officials who were killed in action. Notably, dependents and legal heirs of the deceased police officers have each been awarded Rs 22 lakh as special relief. The Police Headquarters (PHQ) through their respective units/Districts has promptly given Rs 1 lakh each to the families/Nok for immediate funeral expenses out of the special relief amount. The Contributory Police Welfare Fund is used to pay out welfare loans and other financial aid.42 police officers have been granted a welfare loan of Rs 42 lakh for self-marriage, and 63 police officers have each been approved a welfare loan of Rs 1.50 lakh to cover their sons’ or daughters’ wedding costs. Furthermore, eleven police officers each received a welfare loan of Rs 1.5 lakh for their wards’ further or professional education. Two police personnel each received Rs 50,000 for their wards’ circumcisions or Akhandpaths, while another police officer received Rs 1 lakh for his son’s technical education. The welfare loans are repayable and deducted interest-free from police officers’ salaries in equal monthly installments. Additionally, for the marriage ceremonies of the daughters of Ct. Raj Kumar and Ct. Mushtaq Ahmad, who were martyred, the DGP Swain has granted Rs 1 lakh each.
