SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Director General of CRPF, GP Singh, today flagged off the third edition of the Mahila High-Altitude Bike Expedition from the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
The expedition, organised by Srinagar Sector CRPF, will cover nearly 1,400 kilometres from Srinagar to Pangong Tso via Khardung La (17,600 ft) and back.
The bikers carried the National Flag with the Force’s message to the Nation, ‘Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak’.
The event is part of a series of exclusive Mahila Bike Expeditions launched by the CRPF to instill a sense of pride and test the physical and mental endurance of its women personnel.
The first expedition was held in March 2023 from Delhi to Jagdalpur, followed by the second in September 2023, covering routes from Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia.
Talking to reporters after the flag-off, DG CRPF said, “I congratulate everyone that they are going on this high-altitude motorcycle expedition from this historical place of Kashmir.
“I would like to thank the people of Kashmir for their support,” he added.In total, 98 women will travel from Srinagar to Pangong Lake and return from there.
The expedition will run from September 23 to October 1, traversing some of the toughest terrains of Ladakh and Kashmir.
The participants were excited to be part of the expedition.
“We are looking forward to the expedition. Our objective will be to travel safely,” said a female participant.
