NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his happiness at the Lok Sabha‘s passage of the women’s reservation bill and thanked lawmakers from all parties for their support. He declared on X that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a historic piece of legislation that will further advance women’s emancipation and enable even greater participation by women in our democratic process. “Delighted at the passage of The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Lok Sabha with such phenomenal support,” stated Modi shortly after the bill was nearly unanimously approved by the Lok Sabha.I appreciate the support of MPs from all parties who voted in favour of this Bill. The Lok Sabha passed the Constitution (128th Amendment) Bill after a passionate eight-hour debate in which 60 MPs took part, with 454 voting in favour and two against. The House member Modi was present when the bill was voted on.
