JAMMU: Given that India’s agriculture is a significant economic sector, it is important that we make coordinated efforts to advance it. In today’s meeting to assess the district’s performance of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the district development commissioner, emphasised the value of agriculture in India. During the discussion, the DDC emphasised that in order to enhance the lives of families who depend on agriculture, officials must carefully implement sector-specific programmes. He underlined that benefits under the HADP and other government programmes should be distributed fairly. Representatives from the departments of horticulture, fisheries, sheep husbandry, and animal husbandry gave information on the state of the programmes pertaining to their respective disciplines.The Animal Husbandry department covered the topics of subsidies, operational difficulties, and the approval procedures for programmes such as the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme and the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme in relation to the livestock and poultry industries. The department of Sheep Husbandry talked about programmes including Pashu Sakhi, MAITRI, Rashtriya Gokul Mission, National Animal Disease Control Programme, and Integrated Poultry Development Programme. The DDC recommended promoting Pashu Sakhi and giving women priority when it comes to benefits. He also emphasised the importance of making sure that government programmes benefit the most worthy individuals.The production of mutton, wool, and pelt, as well as processing and assistance for Farmers Producer Organisations and Self Help Groups, were also discussed during the meeting. Initiatives including the Mini Feed Mill, Bio Floc Unit, Backyard Mini Recirculating Aquaculture System, and Carp Unit Construction were discussed by the Fisheries department. The gathering also had the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana as a major focal point. Information regarding polyhouses, root stock banks, farm mechanisation, automation, and other topics was presented by the horticulture department. The construction of rearing homes by the Sericulture department was also discussed at the conference. Yoginder Katoch, the chief planning officer, and representatives from the relevant departments attended the meeting.
