DC Doda reviews essential supplies amid curfew, appeals for peace

Doda, Sep 13: Even as restrictions remained in place, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, inspected the main market of Doda town to assess the availability of essential supplies and functioning of trade activities.

During his visit, the DC interacted with shopkeepers and locals, assuring them that the administration is committed to ensuring uninterrupted availability of food grains, medicines, and daily-use commodities. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in the district.

Officials of the district administration said the overall situation has remained peaceful, and life is gradually limping back to normalcy. However, internet services continue to remain suspended, and schools are yet to reopen in the district.

The curfew in Doda was imposed after the arrest of sitting MLA Mehraj Malik, which had sparked protests and heightened tensions earlier this week. Authorities said security arrangements remain in place to prevent any untoward incident.

The district administration reiterated that peace and cooperation from the public are crucial for the restoration of normal life in the region.
