JAMMU: An absconder who had been eluding capture for the previous four years was allegedly apprehended by the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu (CBJ). According to a Crime Branch spokesperson, Kulranjan Sharma of Rani Talab Digiana and two other individuals, Kulbir Singh of RS Pura and Nagrotam Singh of Marjali Kangril Jammu, were charged in case number 39/2020 at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471, and 120-B RPC for their roles in forming a criminal conspiracy and defrauding a person of Rs 23.5 lakh by obtaining a bank loan in his favour for the sale of JCB.“After collection of evidence, a charge-sheet was presented in the court of law against Kulbir Singh and Narotam Singh but Kulranjan Sharma continued to evade his arrest by constantly changing his locations,” he stated. According to the CBJ spokeswoman, the accused was also the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the court on the Crime Branch’s request, pursuant to Section 512 of the CrPC. “Today, in response to specific input, the accused was taken into custody from the outskirts of the city,” he stated, stating that the accused would be brought before the legal court to determine the next steps.
