JAMMU: Director General of Police RR Swain acknowledged on Saturday that there are foreign terrorists operating in the Rajouri-Poonch belt of Jammu and Kashmir. However, he stated that security forces are dedicated to eliminating terrorism from the Pir Panjal region’s southern region. This year has seen a spike in terror attacks in the Jammu region’s twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, which has resulted in the deaths of seven civilians and 19 Army personnel. Up to 25 terrorists have also been slain in clashes, the majority of which occurred along the Line of Control (LoC), as security forces have thwarted multiple attempts at infiltration. “The Rajouri-Poonch belt is in a secure situation, but we would prefer not to talk about our plan in public. The police chief told reporters in Jammu, “There is no doubt about it, but it is important for the public to know that there are primarily foreign terrorists operating within our territory with some degree of support from some selected persons.” Though it is difficult to identify these “very very limited” individuals who are with the terrorists and do not live in their homes but rather hide in the forests, Swain stated that the number of supporters of terrorism is “very very limited.” Information flow becomes limited when terrorists operate out of deep forest hideouts, according to the police chief.It is undoubtedly difficult, but we are fighting back with all of our might and resources,” Swain remarked. He said that the forces are aware of the threat posed by terrorism and are determined to deal with it head-on and eradicate it before it grows. According to the head of police, from 1997 to 2003–2004, there was peace in the area and no terrorist activity. “We are aware of that circumstance as well as this circumstance. There is a chasm, and we won’t permit it to be crossed in their favour,” Swain declared.
