Jammu, Jan 7: An official from the meteorological department stated on Sunday that Jammu saw the coldest night of the season, with the minimum temperature falling four degrees below average to settle at 3.4 degrees Celsius. Many travellers were inconvenienced by the disruption of aircraft and rail schedules caused by fog. With a low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius, Banihal town on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was the coldest point in the Jammu region. Bhaderwah in the Doda district was next, with a minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius. The well-known Reasi district town of Katra, which acts as the pilgrims’ base camp when they visit the Vaishno Devi shrine, reported a 6 degree Celsius nighttime temperature, according to the official.
