Srinagar, Nov 24: According to officials on Friday, most of Kashmir saw temperatures above freezing last night as residents received a break from the cold and fog. According to the officials, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was 0.9 degrees Celsius. For the first time in the previous five days, they claimed, the city’s minimum temperature remained above freezing. Minimum temperatures between 0 and 1.7 degrees Celsius were also recorded in Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kokernag, Kulgam, and Kupwara.With a temperature of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, the Pahalgam tourist resort in the south Kashmir Anantnag district was the coldest place in the valley. Shopian, with a temperature of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, was the next coldest place on record. A low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at the Gulmarg ski resort in north Kashmir. The meteorologist explained that last night’s increase in the minimum temperature was caused by the arrival of a western disturbance that is predicted to have an impact on the system. There is less fog in the early morning hours as a result of the temperature increase.
