New Delhi, Sep 14: The Supreme Court will soon be connected to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), a database of information about the number of cases pending and the success rate of courts from the local level to the national level, according to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud’s announcement on Thursday. The service currently only displays data up to the high court level. The CJI said that data from the top court would be uploaded to the NJDG in real time as the day’s proceedings in the apex court got underway.“Just a quick announcement. The day is historic. The NIC and the Supreme Court’s internal staff created this distinctive and educational platform. You can now examine real-time data on the status of cases year by year, the total number of registered and unregistered cases still pending, and the total number of cases determined by quorum, according to the CJI. According to the CJI, submitting data to the NJDG will guarantee accountability and openness in the judicial sector.The NJDG is an online platform developed as part of the eCourts Project that contains orders, judgements, and case information from 18,735 district and subordinate courts and high courts. District and taluka courts that are connected update data almost instantly. It provides information about the judicial proceedings and rulings of all of the nation’s computerised district and subordinate courts. All high courts have joined the NJDG via web services, giving the general public with an interest in litigation convenient access. (Agencies)
