SRINAGAR:Dr,Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretarystated today that the next objective of the UT is to provide jobs to all job seekers after ensuring that all of its residents have access to basic utilities. DrMehta was addressing at meeting organised to assess how effectively various government agencies working with financial institutions had implemented Employment Generation Schemes throughout the UT.The Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Commissioner Secretary, RDD, Secretary, PD&MD, Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Mission Director, JKRLM, and DG Planning were also present at the meeting in addition to other officers from the relevant departments. The Chief Secretary argued during the discussion that J&K has been successful in giving the majority of its population access to essential services like health and education as well as basic necessities like roads, drinking water, and electricity. According to him, the current emphasis is on giving work chances to everyone who is interested in taking use of them. The Chief Secretary emphasised that each of the concerned Departments must set these goals as their targets and develop strategies to achieve them within a set time frame in order to fulfil the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha’s pledges regarding the empowerment of women and youth. In order to develop effective solutions for this demographic, he first emphasised the importance of acquiring the pertinent data. To further the interests of women and young people, he urged for the creation of a database along the lines of the “India Stack.” He insisted that efforts should be implemented to close the gap between the demand for programmes and their intended outcomes.He stated that the segment of the public interested in participating in any activity should be catered to in accordance with their goals. Dr. Mehta further urged all concerned Departments to adjust their targets in order to meet sector-specific demand. He urged the development of employment plans at the Panchayat level to represent young people’s true goals for the kind of engagements they want for themselves based on their skills and practical chances. On this occasion, the Commissioner Secretary of Labour and Employment, Rehana Batul, informed the gathering that 19733 units had been constructed to date under various self-employment schemes executed by several Departments, providing work for more than 95000 people.She added that throughout this time, 36 additional job fairs were hosted at various places, placing 614 people in jobs. Additionally, it was disclosed that the Department has 251336 educated young, including 85540 women, registered for counselling and other pertinent support for obtaining employment. According to information provided, 15807 counselling sessions with 44433 attendees were held up to July of this year. There were also 180 awareness camps attended by 13809 candidates.The conference was also informed that 17 District Employment & Counselling Centres had been upgraded to model career centres as part of the National Career Service Programme. In addition to providing counselling and other relevant services to young people who are unemployed in the UT, these Model Career Centres are supposed to connect job searchers with all accessible work possibilities.
