LUCKNOW: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the BrahMos missile as a symbol of India’s growing indigenous defence capability, saying its “charisma needs no explanation” after its precise performance during Operation Sindoor.
Rajnath Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Saturday flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the BrahMos Aerospace Unit in Lucknow.
“The charisma of the BrahMos missile needs no explanation. During Operation Sindoor, it hit every target with pinpoint accuracy. Such BrahMos missiles will now be manufactured in Lucknow,” Singh said while addressing the gathering.
He described BrahMos as not just a missile but a symbol of India’s technological and strategic self-reliance, noting that its combination of speed, accuracy, and power makes it one of the best systems in the world.
“Whether it’s the export of the BrahMos to the Philippines or future collaborations, India has now become a giver, not just a taker. This is the true spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” he added.
The BrahMos facility in Lucknow is a key project under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, handling assembly, integration, and testing of the missile system. With the dispatch of its first missile consignment, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a vital partner in the national ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative.
