JAMMU:Today, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, the district’s chief electoral officer (CEO), presided over a meeting with nodal officials and other senior authorities to discuss the district’s preparations for the impending urban local body elections. The CEO emphasised the substantial change in Jammu and Kashmir at the meeting because the region now consistently holds regular ULB elections. He emphasised how crucial these elections were in distributing power to the populace and bringing government closer to the people.The CEO reaffirmed, “For the first time in recent history, power rests with Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions,” highlighting the increased public awareness of the significance of every vote. Elections, the CEO underscored, are a holy process distinguished by clearly defined duties and a strict respect to the established protocols, adding to the stability of our democracy. He continued by saying that regular training sessions are a crucial instrument in ensuring that elections are conducted with no room for error. The Chief Electoral Officer discussed several important topics with the Nodal Officers during the conversation. He raised the significance of election transparency by asking about the state of the electoral rolls and their rapid transmission to political parties. All nodal offices were advised to work together to help the electorate choose their representatives wisely. In order to assure the poll workers’ readiness for the elections, the CEO also solicited input at the discussion regarding current and upcoming training sessions. The meeting was attended by officials from the Election Department as well as Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Commissioner JMC Rahul Yadav, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, and ADCs Harvinder Singh and Sandeep Seointra.
