Centre Approves Rs 330.34 Crore Additional Disaster Assistance For J&K

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: The Union Government has approved Rs 330.34 crore as additional Central assistance for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to support relief and recovery efforts following damage caused by floods, flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides during 2025.
The assistance was approved by a High-Level Committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which sanctioned a total of Rs 1,912.99 crore for six States and Union Territories affected by natural calamities including floods, flash floods, landslides and cyclonic storm ‘Montha’.

The funds have been released from the National Disaster Response Fund, subject to adjustment of 50 percent of the opening balance available in the State Disaster Response Fund of the concerned States and UT.
Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, the committee approved Rs 341.48 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 15.70 crore for Chhattisgarh, Rs 778.67 crore for Gujarat, Rs 288.39 crore for Himachal Pradesh and Rs 158.41 crore for Nagaland.

The Government of India, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, stated that it continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with State Governments and Union Territories during natural disasters and is providing all necessary support for relief and rehabilitation.
Officials said the assistance is in addition to the funds already released under disaster management mechanisms. During the financial year 2025–26, the Centre has released Rs 20,735.20 crore to 28 States under SDRF and Rs 3,628.18 crore to 21 States under NDRF. Additional funds have also been released under mitigation funds to strengthen disaster preparedness across the country.
