Cricket Should Be Played In Sporting Spirit, Not Treated Like War: Mufti

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the PDP, stated on Sunday that cricket should not be viewed as a war but rather as a sport. "Because it is a sport, cricket ought to be played like one. When asked about her thoughts on the ongoing Cricket World Cup, Mufti responded, "It is not a war." According to the PDP president, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee both went to India-Pakistan cricket matches in each other's nations. "The Pakistani crowd gave Indian players credit for their performances, and the Indian crowd reciprocated the favours when an Indian player performed well. That's the proper way to view the game," she continued. Mufti also criticised the Jammu and Kashmir government for what he perceived to be a power outage in the Union Territory. She charged that while the administration spends enormous sums of money on formal events and publicity, the people are supposedly made to suffer.
