Still on recovery, will need a few months to be 100% fit: Rishabh Pant

Dec-19 : The incredibly talented Rishabh Pant aspires to be fully match-fit in the coming months and maintain his schedule for the eagerly awaited return to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League the following year. Pant, who narrowly avoided death in a terrifying vehicle accident last year, missed all of 2023 due to surgery. He is overwhelmed by the support and love from his fans, which enabled him to heal more quickly than anyone had anticipated. "I believe that my current state of well-being surpasses that of a few months ago. In other words, I'm still working my way back to 100% fitness. However, I think I'll be able to do it in a few months," Pant said with optimism in a video that the Delhi Capitals uploaded to their Instagram page.The captain of the Delhi Capitals, who will be in attendance at this mini auction along with Team Director Sourav Ganguly and head coach Ricky Ponting, came dangerously close to death in December of last year when his car crashed into a divider on the National Highway heading towards Rourkee and caught fire. The 26-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after suffering several injuries. He is anticipated to return to action, though, when the Indian Premier League begins on March 22. Pant felt that he was realising for the first time how much the fans' love and concern touched him. "I think it's been really amazing because we always feel like nobody loves us because there is pressure on so many fronts when we play cricket. Well, it is a difficult time. But at least now I know that people adore us. They respect us, and from what I've observed over time as a result of my injury, people have shown appreciation and concern," Pant remarked. "I think it was heartfelt, like crazy for me because it means a lot as an individual." Pant claimed that people's love and support had contributed to his incredible recovery. When you are going through a difficult period or something similar occurs to you.It affects the mind as well as the body, so having loved ones and supporters means a lot and is extremely helpful in the healing process." Last season, David Warner, the opener for Australia, led DC in lieu of Pant and the team finished second from last. "I appreciate your unwavering support at all times. Yes, I am aware that as fans we have occasionally treated you poorly."However, as you can see, we always strive to give it our all. Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to return the favour and continue to support you in the same manner that you have shown us over time.
