New Delhi, Oct 21: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Saturday that there has been a 65% decrease in terrorist, left-wing extremist, and insurgency occurrences in the Northeast. "It is certain that the power transfer from Ladakh will positively impact the entire Kashmir valley, improving power availability round the year, especially during power deficit winter months," he stated. According to him, the power situation in the Jammu region would also improve because there will be a proportionate decrease in the amount of power sent to Kashmir from the 400kV Kishanpur and Jatwal central sector grids located in Jammu. "This reduction will free up tied capacity at these grids, thereby improving availability in Jammu throughout the year," he stated. "The power supply from the said BESS-supported renewable energy generator, located near Kashmir, will mitigate the low voltage conditions experienced during winters in the valley due to the decrease in hydro generation," he stated. The project is expected to cost Rs 20,773.70 crore in total and be operational by the 2029–2030 fiscal year. The Central government would provide Rs 8309.48 crore, or 40% of the project's total cost, in financial aid. JAMMU: Veteran Congress leader Karan Singh claimed on Friday that elections are the only way to restore the vital connection that Jammu and Kashmir's people have with their government. SAHIBABAD Oct 20: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rode aboard a "Namo Bharat" train that was operating on the 17-kilometer priority segment of the nation's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) track. To commemorate the opening of the RRTS in India, Modi waved the green flag to the train that ran between the Sahibabad and Duhai Depot stations. Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore.
