"The Bletchley Park Declaration sees 28 countries agree on opportunities, risks and the need for international action on frontier AI, systems that pose the most urgent and dangerous risks," it stated. The UK government released "The Bletchley Declaration" on Wednesday. Signed by representatives of the 28 participating countries, including the EU, the statement warned of the grave dangers posed by the most advanced "frontier" artificial intelligence systems.Artificial intelligence (AI) holds great promise for the world at large. It can improve economics, peace, and human well-being. In order to achieve this, we declare that artificial intelligence (AI) must be created, developed, implemented, and used for the benefit of all people in a safe, dependable, and responsible manner," the declaration stated. The Bletchley Park Declaration also mentioned the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) systems in a number of everyday areas, including housing, work, transportation, education, health, accessibility, and justice, and predicted an increase in their use."We recognise that this is therefore a unique moment to act and affirm the need for the safe development of AI and for the transformative opportunities of AI to be used for good and for all, in an inclusive manner in our countries and globally," it continued. AI presents serious threats in addition to these opportunities, particularly in those areas of daily life. In light of this, we applaud relevant international efforts to investigate and discuss the possible effects of AI systems in fora already in place as well as other pertinent initiatives. We also acknowledge that human rights protection, accountability, justice, transparency, safety, appropriate human oversight, ethics, bias mitigation, privacy, and data protection must all be taken into consideration," the statement continued.Both national and international forums will address the AI danger, with a focus on identifying common concerns on AI safety and developing a common scientific and evidence-based understanding of these risks. "In furtherance of this agenda, we resolve to support an internationally inclusive network of scientific research on frontier AI safety that encompasses and complements existing and new multilateral, plurilateral and bilateral collaboration, including through existing international fora and other relevant initiatives, to facilitate the provision of the best science available for policy making and the public good," the declaration continued.In his speech at the world's first global summit on artificial intelligence in the UK on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that India views AI through the lenses of transparency, safety, trust, and accountability. Speaking at the "AI Safety Summit 2023," Chandrasehar stated that India has consistently emphasised the importance of global partnerships and dialogues, particularly in this year where "technology is throwing up the most exiting opportunities ever in the history of mankind." The minister highlighted that AI is "the next big opportunity" in India's eyes. "We are extremely clear in our minds on mitigation on what AI and indeed any emerging technology can and will represent, a prism of openness, safety, trust and accountability," he stated. The Union Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had long maintained that a coalition of nations, as opposed to one or two, should lead the future of technology, whether it be in terms of partnerships, innovations, or the institutional framework governing technology and innovations for the benefit of all people. This is because the institutional framework is far more sustainable. "Compared to the non-digital portion of the GDP, the growth of India's digital economy, innovation economy, and ecosystem is currently occurring at a rate that is 2.5–3 times quicker.
