PM lays foundation stone of international cricket stadium in Varanasi

VARANASI: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone for an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, his home district. The event was attended by former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also attended the event. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will spend Rs 330 crore on building the stadium, according to the Uttar Pradesh government, which claimed to have spent Rs 121 crore on land acquisition. He declared at the opening of the International Lawyers' Conference that the justice system is greatly influenced by the language used to draw legislation and in the judicial system. We in the Indian government believe that there are two methods to create law. He told the group of lawyers in the audience, "One draught will be in the language you are familiar to. The second draught will be written in a language that the average person in the nation can understand. He ought to regard the law as his own.According to Modi, it used to be customary to write legislation in a convoluted manner. He praised the legal community and stated that the judiciary and the Bar have long protected India's justice system and were crucial to India's independence. New Delhi, Sep 22: Ramesh Bidhuri, a member of the BJP in the Lok Sabha, was given a show-cause notice on Friday after using derogatory language in front of Danish Ali, an MP for the Bahujan Samaj Party, during a debate about the success of the Chandrayaan mission. According to BJP sources, the party has asked the South Delhi MP for a response about his use of improper language. Ali was the target of insults from Bidhuri during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Later, Speaker Om Birla deleted those words.Rajnath Singh, a minister for the Union, expressed regret at Bidhuri's comments. Following the virality of the video featuring Bidhuri's contentious allusions to the Muslim MP, the opposition parties called for harsh punishment against him, including expulsion from the House. Asian Games: India slams China for denying accreditation to sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh

NEW DELHI: India has raised stern concerns with China over its refusal to grant select Indian athletes from Arunachal Pradesh accreditation for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, claiming that this action contradicts the spirit of the sporting event and the rules governing its conduct. Union I&B and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur postponed his planned trip to China for the Games as a sign of India's protest against China's discriminating attitude, according to a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry named Arindam Bagchi. India maintains the right to take "appropriate measures to safeguard our interests," according to Bagchi. Bagchi stated, "The government of India has learned that the Chinese authorities had discriminated against certain of the Indian athletes from the state of Arunachal Pradesh by denying them accreditation and access to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in a targeted and premeditated way. "In keeping with our long-standing and unwavering stance, India vehemently rejects treating Indian nationals differently based on their place of residence or ethnicity. SRINAGAR: Following the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution in 2019, political parties in Kashmir on Friday hailed the release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the head of the Hurriyat Conference, from his more than four years of house detention. Vice-President of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, expressed optimism that the Mirwaiz will be permitted to move around freely, engage in social interactions, and pick up his previous social and religious obligations. "I applaud the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's decision to lift Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's home arrest. I hope they give him the freedom to go where he wants, talk to people, and carry out his social and religious duties once more. NEW DELHI: Chants of "Modi Modi" were raised by female MPs as they took turns thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the passage of the landmark women's reservation Bill, appropriately named "Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam," which was passed by the Parliament on Thursday and represents a significant step in the empowerment of one-half of the country's population. PT Usha and the Union Ministers Meenakashi Lekhi and Smriti Irani were among the female members of both Houses of Parliament who gave Prime Minister Modi a bouquet in congratulation of the Bill's historic passage. The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 was the subject of a daylong debate in the Upper House, to which Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had made a brief response, stating that it would be enacted after following the proper procedures. Prior to the vote, PM Modi encouraged the Rajya Sabha members to approve the Bill with all of their votes. He claimed that the Bill will give the populace new faith and trust. "All members and political parties have contributed significantly to the advancement of 'Nari Shakti' and the empowerment of women. Let's send a clear message to the nation," he urged.More than 132 members of either House participated in the substantive discussion on the proposed legislation, according to PM Modi, which will help move the nation forward. The opposition members' changes were rejected, and the draught legislation's individual clauses were put to a vote.
