Dr. Karan Singh : Political link between public and administration missing in J&K

JAMMU: Veteran Congress leader Karan Singh claimed on Friday that elections are the only way to restore the vital connection that Jammu and Kashmir's people have with their government. In order to resolve public issues, he also identified Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) as the essential intermediary between the people and the administration. Singh argued in favour of holding the assembly elections, stating that until a government is established by popular vote, the issue in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be regarded as resolved. "MLAs act as a conduit between the public and the executive branch. According to him, J&K has not held an assembly for the past five years. "There is no political connection between the populace and the government. The management is going about its business. They are implementing fresh programmes. He stated, "The people are at their locations with a broken connection to the administration. The head of Congress emphasised that a strong opposition is necessary for a functioning democracy. "A democracy requires a robust opposition as well as a strong administration. It is not optimal to have one dominant force.After decades of Congress domination, the BJP is now in the driver's seat. It must be in balance," he declared. He stated that the opposition coalition INDIA was established with the intention of running a cohesive campaign in elections. "It will benefit the nation if they can accomplish that and grow stronger. There is no need to forecast whether they will win or not. Democracy benefits from a robust opposition, he continued. Regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, Singh assessed the circumstances as perilous. "While we thought wars were a thing of the past, Ukraine-Russia war and the Hamas-Israel conflict are a grim reality in our lifetime" , he stated. He argued that the best way to end the conflict is through a two-state solution and emphasised that the US must actively seek and carry out this strategy. In order to avert catastrophes, Singh advocated caution and preventive actions. In addition, he supported a cohesive approach to studying the Dogras' history while recognising the unique contributions of each ruler. "We ought to put the Dogras' past front and centre. SAHIBABAD Oct 20: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rode aboard a "Namo Bharat" train that was operating on the 17-kilometer priority segment of the nation's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) track. To commemorate the opening of the RRTS in India, Modi waved the green flag to the train that ran between the Sahibabad and Duhai Depot stations. Trains operating in this corridor have a 180 kmph top speed. At the RRTS station at Sahibabad, the prime minister unveiled a plaque to officially launch the priority section.According to a top National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) official, he also became the first individual to purchase a smart card utilising the UPI payment method in order to enter the concourse. Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. The motorway would cross industrial districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, and Ludhiana. According to the minister, one unique aspect of this corridor is the 1,300-meter cable-stayed bridge across the Beas River, which is the longest in Asia.Major religious sites such as the Golden Temple, the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu, the Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara in the Kapurthala district, the Goindwal Sahib Gurdwara, the Khandur Sahib Gurdwara, and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran) will all be connected by the motorway. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore. According to Singh, the present goals of Indian public policy are to improve accountability and openness in government, with a particular emphasis on fiscal federalism, rural development, and public service delivery excellence. "India has made improvements to its grievance redressal systems to make them more contemporary and has made an effort to strengthen its institutions and streamline administrative procedures in order to allay any residual feelings of injustice resulting from administrative actions. The minister stated, "To this end, digital advancement has made it possible for citizens to file grievances." Singh has pledged to introduce a call centre strategy in Jammu and Kashmir, which is presently in use at the Centre, in order to directly determine the degree of satisfaction of the individuals who have had their issues resolved. At the event, V Srinivas, secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), stated that the training serves as a forum for group learning and sharing with the goal of raising people's standard of living. In addition, he underscored the necessity of inclusive, rapid development for resilient growth and the significance of technology in improving residents' quality of life.
