Emoluments Governed By Terms Of Service: Army On Grant To Next Of Kin Of Agniveer

New Delhi, Oct 23: The Indian Army expressed sympathy for the bereaved family of Agniveer Gawate Akshay Laxman on Sunday and attempted to dispel any confusion over the next of kin's compensation by stating that it is "governed by the relevant terms & conditions of service of the soldier." The Army said on its X account on Sunday that Agniveer Laxman died while performing his duties in Siachen."In view of conflicting messages on social media regarding financial assistance to the Next of Kin of the deceased, it was important to clarify that emoluments due to the Next of Kin were governed by the relevant terms and conditions of service of the soldier," said the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI), IHQ of the Ministry of Defence (Army).The non-contributory insurance sum of Rs 48 lakh is the amount of emoluments permitted for a deceased battle casualty, in accordance with the rules of engagement of Agniveers. Agniveer (30%) contributed Seva Nidhi, and the government matched it with an equivalent amount plus interest. Amount ex parted: Rs 44 lakh. Payment of the remaining duration from the date of death until the four-year period is finished (in this case, more than Rs 13 lakh). an 8-lakh rupee contribution from the Armed Forces Battle Casualty Fund. immediate financial support from the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) in the amount of Rs 30,000, the ADG PI wrote.The Army honoured the deceased Agniveer, an operator who perished in the Siachen glacier's terrain, earlier on Sunday. Engineers develop new tunnel method for Kashmir rail link project

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways experts have devised a novel tunnelling technique to finish Tunnel-1, the 111-kilometer Katra-Banihal segment of the Kashmir rail link project, despite the challenging terrain of the Himalayas. The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project's Katra-Reasi portion features a 3.2-km single tube tunnel at the base of the Trikuta Hills, which has been dubbed the most challenging part of the project. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has recently declared, "We have innovatively developed (I)-TM as Himalayan tunnelling method for tunnelling through the Himalayan geology to build tunnels in Jammu and Kashmir." A senior railway engineer described the new tunnelling technique, stating that it entailed pre-excavation support measures to address the "flowing conditions" observed during tunnel excavation.The railroads also rerouted the train line so that only a tiny section travels through the challenging terrain—which the engineers had declared to be the worst they had ever encountered—when constructing tunnels in the nation. A senior railway engineer participating in the project's development stated, "We inserted nine-meter pipes in the mountains. The engineers decided to provide rigid supports using 'ISHB' as opposed to the lattice girder method used in the New Austrian Tunnelling Method." We refer to it as pipe roofing. We used these perforated poles and filled them with PU grout to create an umbrella. This substance reacts with the soil to triple its volume and turn it into a rock-like substance. The stability of this structure is checked, and then we gradually start excavating," the engineer stated. BARAMULLA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, made a late-night visit to Tangmarg today to identify additional parking space for the convenience of visitors and the general public. The purpose of this visit was to regulate and ensure additional parking facilities for the upcoming winter season in the tourist resort Gulmarg. Dr. Sehrish pointed out four excellent locations during the tour, and she gave SDM instructions to develop a comprehensive strategy for using the locations for parking facilities. India-Canada relations going through difficult phase: EAM S Jaishankar

The minister of external affairs added that if there is improvement in the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada, India is probably going to start issuing visas to citizens of that country again. Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's accusations last month of a "potential" Indian operative role in the June execution of Khalistani rebel Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the relationship between India and Canada became severely strained.A few days following Trudeau's accusations, India requested that Ottawa reduce its diplomatic presence in the nation and said that it would be temporarily halting the issuing of visas to Canadian citizens. "We would like to resume issuing visas there if we see progress in the safety of our diplomats in Canada," Jaishankar stated at an event in response to a query about relations between India and Canada.Regarding the reduction of Canada's diplomatic representation in India, he stated that the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations clearly guarantees diplomatic parity. The Vienna Convention, the pertinent international law on issue, clearly provides for parity. In our situation, Jaishankar stated, "we invoked parity because we were concerned about ongoing interference in our affairs by Canadian personnel." India sends humanitarian aid to people of Palestine

NEW DELHI: On Sunday, India dispatched 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and over 6.5 tonnes of medical help to the Palestinian people. The cargo was transported by an Indian Air Force C-17 transport plane. The aircraft is flying the relief to Egypt's El-Arish airport. India provides humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. "A spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, Arindam Bagchi, announced on "X" that an IAF C-17 aircraft carrying around 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies for the people of Palestine is leaving for El-Arish airport in Egypt."Among other necessary items, the material includes essential life-saving medications, surgical supplies, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets," he stated. Three days prior, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed condolences to President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority on the deaths of civilians in a Gaza hospital and reaffirmed India's long-standing "principled position" on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Following this, India provided the supplies. During a phone call on Thursday, the prime minister informed the president of the Palestine Authority that New Delhi will keep sending aid to the Palestinian people.
