“PM doesn’t say a word about caste census”, Rahul reiterates ‘caste census vow’ in MP

MADHYA PRADESH: Along with his 53 officers, Shivraj Singh Chouhan leads the state's government. There is only one OBC officer among those 53 officers. Can you imagine how much of the authority to make decisions he has? Precisely 0.33%. He decides what to do with 0.33% of your entire budget. Now consider that over 50% of them are in this population. He continued, "The OBC Class is being denigrated." Rahul Gandhi attacked the state government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, "PM Modi and CM Shivraj keep claiming that it is the government of the OBCs." They don't give that one OBC officer any tasks." The opposition members of parliament from the recently formed INDIA bloc have been calling for a nationwide caste census, arguing that it would help determine policies for various social groups based on population numbers. However, the central government, which is led by the BJP, has been asserting that the caste census will cause "division" in society. In the meantime, if elected to power in Chhattisgarh, the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government has promised to carry out a caste census in the state. Elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled for November 17 and the vote-counting day is December 3.Legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies will be chosen by voters. The Congress won the most recent state assembly elections in 2018, and seasoned leader Kamal Nath was sworn in as chief minister. However, in 2020, the state experienced a political earthquake when 22 loyalist MLAs and then-Congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the saffron camp. After being reduced to a minority, the Congress government collapsed, and the BJP took power with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as chief minister once more. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress MP, reaffirmed his party's commitment to conducting a caste census on Monday. The Congress Member of Parliament also took aim at the Prime Minister, claiming that he makes no mention of the caste census. "I repeatedly advised Prime Minister Modi to order a nationwide caste census. However, he remains silent on the caste census. Instead, he asserts that the nation is caste-free. We pledge to carry out a caste census if we win the state's elections. Gandhi said, "Everyone needs to know about their strength in the country," during a polling campaign in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. UK PM Rishi Sunak sacks Home Secretary Suella Braverman

NOV 13, 2023 : According to Reuters, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak fired his home secretary Suella Braverman for her scathing criticism of Police in the midst of the country's ongoing pro-Palestine demonstrations. After her Times UK article criticising the Metropolitan Police for allegedly softening their stance against radical elements at pro-Palestine rallies, Sunak faced pressure to fire Braverman. In an opinion piece published ahead of a pro-Palestinian march on Saturday, the UK Home Secretary allegedly accused the police of using a "double standard" when it came to rallies, especially pro-Palestinian marches, according to Reuters. A strong candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party in the future, Braverman had repeatedly criticised the tens of thousands of protestors that have gathered in London in the wake of Hamas's attack on Israel last month.Braverman has called the rallies "mobs" and "hate marches". According to Reuters, Braverman has a history of making contentious remarks for the police or national security. Braverman sent a warning to police chiefs on October 10 for flying Palestinian flags in UK streets. According to an Anadolu Agency report, she said that raising the flag "may not be legitimate" if it is seen as endorsing terrorism. Suella Braverman went so far as to give instances of protest behaviours that she thought might be construed as breaches of public order, such as swarming Jewish neighbourhoods, brandishing signs endorsing Hamas or Palestine, and yelling potentially offensive anti-Israeli phrases.Pro-Palestinian demonstrators in their thousands have marched in London and other UK cities, demanding an end to Israel's attacks on Hamas. Notably, on October 7, after Hamas attacked Israel, the latter launched a counteroffensive against Israel. One of the biggest pro-Palestine marches in London since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict took place on November 11. Marching from Marble Arch in Hyde Park through the capital, thousands of demonstrators marched down Vauxhall Bridge Road, over the River Thames, and to the US Embassy on Nine Elms Lane. The protest was against US President Joe Biden's steadfast backing of the Israeli military's ground operation in Gaza in reaction to the October 7 Hamas attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 1,400 Israelis and the kidnapping of 200 others. According to Israel's Channel 12, there were antisemitic banners, anti-Jewish chants, and pro-Hamas slogans during the demonstration.
