MEA to Indians in Canada and those planning to travel there : Exercise caution

NEW DELHI: India warned its citizens in Canada and those considering a trip there on Wednesday to proceed with the utmost caution in light of anti-Indian actions taking place in several areas of that nation. Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's charges of a "potential" participation of Indian agents in the execution of Khalistani rebel Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June, the advise came amid a further worsening of diplomatic relations between the two nations. "All Indian nationals in Canada and those considering travel are urged to exercise the utmost caution in light of growing anti-India activities, politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence, " the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated in the alert. The statement read, "Recent threats have targeted Indian diplomats and Indian community members who oppose the anti-India agenda in particular." Indian nationals are consequently urged to stay away from areas and possible locations in Canada that have seen such events, the statement continued. According to the MEA, the Indian High Commission and general consulates would keep in touch with the Canadian government to ensure the security and well-being of the Indian community in Canada. According to the alert, "Indian students in particular are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant given the deteriorating security environment in Canada." Onus lies with Pakistan for creating conducive atmosphere for resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue: Omar

JAMMU: Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference, stated on Wednesday that Pakistan is responsible for fostering an environment in Jammu and Kashmir that will allow for the restart of talks with India. ''This runs the risk of damaging a very strong bilateral relationship,'' he said, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of a ''potential'' involvement of Indian agents in the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader in Canada in June. Given the significant problems in the women's reservation bill, especially the timing for its implementation, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated that his party will not be able to unilaterally endorse it."We have always backed communication between India and Pakistan, but for the discussions to pick back up, a friendly environment is required. At the headquarters of his party in this city, Abdullah told reporters that creating a climate that is conducive to discussion is not just India's job but also Pakistan's. He stated that the happenings in Rajouri, Kokernag, and Srinagar cannot help in fostering the conducive environment required for the conversation in reference to the army and police officials who died in recent confrontations. He claimed that so far, he has not observed any action from the adjoining nation that would aid in fostering the favourable environment required for the talk."I constantly think back to the quote by A. B. Vajpayee, the previous prime minister, that you may change your friends but not your neighbours. No matter what we do, that nation (Pakistan) will continue to be a neighbour. However, he added, "that nation must strive towards creating a favourable environment before negotiations can begin. Abdullah, a former Union minister of state for external affairs, responded that if the Canadian prime minister had any supporting documentation, he should submit it to the world community when questioned about the assertion. ''He says it's based on an ongoing inquiry,'' he says. He should not have preempted the investigation's results by acting now; instead, he should have waited for it to be finished.The connection with Canada has always been extremely good, so if he has evidence to back up his allegation, I would humbly recommend that he share it with the international audience. Otherwise, his comment carries the risk of tarnishing a very solid bilateral relationship. Abdullah said, "That will be really sad. According to him, it will take at least 10 years to implement the women's reservation measure that was introduced into Parliament on Wednesday. The bill mentions delimitation and a census before it is put into effect. Therefore, there is no chance before 2029 and there is a strong likelihood that it would fail by 2034. Why call a special session of Parliament when we had to wait at least ten years to pass a measure is unclear. He suggested that it might have been brought during the winter session. Abdullah stated that they hoped the bill will be enacted quickly and put into effect right away. "This bill has flaws, and we will work to have those flaws fixed." I don't see how we will be able to support a bill that we feel still has flaws on our own,'' he said. He stated that the National Conference has always supported the dignified repatriation of Kashmiri Pandits and their subsequent rehabilitation.Who will object to it (the rehabilitation and return of migrant pandits)? You won't need to drag them back, I've always said. They departed from there (Kashmir) as a result of their sense of unease. They will return if you give them a sense of security again, he said. Moving them from one camp to another, according to him, is meaningless. The environment must be created so they return voluntarily and can reside wherever they choose. That is what we want to see, Abdullah remarked. [caption id="attachment_2970" align="alignnone" width="300"] Onus lies with…

Sonia Gandhi : Congress demands immediate implementation of women’s quota bill with quota for SCs, STs, OBCs

NEW DELHI: Sonia Gandhi,Congress parliamentary party chief, on Wednesday reiterated her party's support for the women's reservation bill and called for its swift passage, along with the inclusion of a provision for the representation of SCs, STs, and OBCs. In the Lok Sabha, Gandhi opened the discussion by stating, "I stand here in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam." Any delay in putting the women's reservation law into effect, according to her, will be a grave injustice to Indian women. All Vacant Posts In Govt Departments To Be Filled Within 6 Months: LG

Ganderbal, Sep 19 : Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, stated on Tuesday that a "major recruitment drive" will be conducted within the next six months to fill all open positions in the various government ministries. Speaking to a crowd in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district after officially opening and laying the cornerstones for a number of development projects, the LG noted that the UT administration had launched a recruitment drive the previous year, and hundreds of young people had been hired using a fair process. The speaker added, "Let me announce here that all the vacant posts in various government departments will be filled within the next six months through a proper recruitment drive," adding that "poor man's child also has a right to become an officer."The LG said that a vegetable vendor's daughter just joined the KAS. "She told me when we first spoke that she never saw herself as an officer. I reassured her that children of poor people had the same rights as children of rich people, he said. The LG attacked regional parties, claiming that "some party's looted the State exchequer, built enormous villas in foreign countries, and left the common of J&K suffer." The LG claimed that these people "can't handle peace" and that they keep hatching plans to incite and mislead people under various pretexts.He claimed that inhabitants of the Ganderbal district received 2800 Awas through the Prime Minister Awas Yojna Scheme. "Let me be clear: No non-J&K resident in the Ganderbal district has received an Awas. However, the LG claimed that some people are plotting to hinder the move because they find it insulting to witness a poor man build their homes. According to the LG, the days of establishments like schools collapsing at the direction of Pakistan or "its stooges here" were long gone. J&K is progressing towards prosperity and peace. He asserted that people are satisfied and enjoying nightlife.He said that 1.88 billion visitors visited J&K in 2017. Who gained from that? a local cart vendor, hotelier, Riskhaw wall, shikara walla, and taxi driver are among examples. 1.52 million tourists visited J&K this year until August, and that number is expected to reach 2.25 million, according to the LG, who also added that some people find it difficult to comprehend the large number of visitors to J&K and create claims in an effort to mislead others. According to the LG, Ganderbal is headed for rapid development. "I am happy that Ganderbal is soon going to establish itself as a major tourism destination. A staggering 3.5 lakh tourists arrived in Sonmarg, he claimed.The unpleasant aspect was that the projects whose foundation stone was placed in 2011 were being inaugurated today after a significant wait of 12 years, according to the LG, who claimed to have launched a number of projects in the area. "Previous leaders here established a pattern of starting initiatives but never finishing them. The current administration completed 33 of the 75 projects in Ganderbal that were on the list of unfinished business, and the remaining 45 will be finished soon, he said. NC not against Women Reservation Bill: Omar

SRINAGAR : National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah stated on Tuesday that the party is not opposed to the Women Reservation Bill and has no issues if it is put into effect. When did we oppose women's reservations? It was put into practise by us personally in panchayats and other places. We support women's rights because they make up 50% of our population and should have the opportunity to serve as elected officials. Abdullah told reporters in Budgam, "We don't oppose to this. Abdullah responded that the party does not lack qualified female leaders when asked if it will affect the party's prospects in J&K. "What effect will it have? Do you believe there won't be any women running for the designated seats at the polls? There are plenty of female candidates throughout the NC. We have a women's wing, and they are fighting tooth and nail. "No bill will have any effect on us." Only because our leaders here are afraid of the polls do we suffer. They are now kings without a crown. They are not interested in holding the election. He made apparent allusion to the Centre-imposed LG government when he added, "The risk is from people who are fleeing elections. The women's reservation bill, which would provide women a third of the seats in the Lower House of Parliament, state legislatures, and the Delhi legislative assembly, was introduced by the government on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha. A supplementary list of business included the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023, for presentation in the Lower House.
