Azad inspects Doda accident site, urges administration to ensure safety measures for smooth traffic movement

DODA: Ghulam Nabi Azad went to the scene of a tragic accident in Assar, Doda. On November 15, a bus carrying passengers in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district skidded off the road and rolled down into a 300-foot gorge, leaving at least 39 people dead and numerous others injured. "It is imperative that the administration and traffic police step up their efforts to enforce strict adherence to traffic rules in the wake of the recent tragedy. Such precautions are essential to averting more catastrophic mishaps, according to Azad. The fact that the injured passengers were airlifted to Jammu for medical attention highlights how urgent it is to enhance safety protocols to prevent such catastrophic events in the future. Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, additionally approved an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for each of the relatives of those who perished in the tragic bus accident. He also promised the impacted families that all possible help would be provided, and he approved a sum of Rs 1 lakh for the injured. Use of AI for creating ‘deep fake’ problematic, media must educate people: PM

NEW DELHI: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called attention to the misuse of artificial intelligence in the creation of "deep fakes," stressing the need for the media to inform the public about this impending crisis. Speaking to reporters during the BJP's Diwali Milan event at the party's headquarters in this city, Modi also mentioned his determination to see "Viksit Bharat" (developed India) become a reality, stressing that these are not just words. He added that people have supported being "vocal for local." Modi went on to say that the nation's successes during the COVID-19 pandemic gave people hope that India would not give up. He added, "Chhath Puja is a matter of great happiness and has become a 'rashtriya parva' (national festival). Congress stands for secularism, unification : Wani

RAMBAN: According to JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani, the Congress has always supported secularism and national unity, and those who sow discord are the nation's worst enemies, whom the populace needs to expose. Speaking at a public gathering at Ramban, the president of PCC stated that while Congress has never wavered from its core secular principles, some parties use religious divisiveness and division to win over votes. These parties threaten society's secular fabric and do enormous harm to the country. People need to recognise these parties' and their leaders' schemes and avoid being taken advantage of. The conflict is between the diametrically opposed philosophies of the BJP, which sows division in society, and the Congress, which advocates for unity.People need to pick between two options, but it's more crucial to identify the leaders and parties that advocate for something different while covertly working to undermine the Congress and support the BJP-RSS. He made the point that the current administration's administrative inertia is the reason why people living in remote areas are currently experiencing severe crises, and he added that the administration has no idea what issues these people are facing. He insisted that all remaining roads be upgraded and given black topping because the majority of them were in poor condition, which had a negative influence on mobility and increased the suffering of the residents of these isolated villages. While drawing attention to the issues in the area, he bemoaned the state of the roads, the inconsistent power supply in remote areas, the absence of medical facilities in their villages, and the demand for constant electricity supply in their individual villages. Senior leader Raman Bhalla claimed that the BJP government and the UT administration take advantage of photo ops like "Back to Village-5," where the populace is angry at the bureaucrats. In addition to peace, prosperity, and harmony, he said, Jammu and Kashmir needed democracy restored as soon as possible, and this could only happen if the Congress party gained more power. He asked party cadres in particular as well as the general public to band together against the forces that have divided and destroyed our state of Dogra. Ashok Kumar, a former MLA, claimed that the BJP and its supporters have been spreading false narratives to divert people's attention from important issues. Their efforts have all been in vain. The BJP and others like it are frustrated because of this in J&K. The BJP is trying to win the elections by bringing in outside voters because it is in a precarious position," he continued. Previously, Wani and Raman Bhalla organised a sizable public march through bazaars to draw attention to social issues and to chant anti-BJP slogans. Additionally, they opened a new DCC office. Imtiaz Khanday, Prevez Ahmed, Feroz Khan, Ishaq Khan, Rashid Malik, Mohan Singh, Sanjeev Dar, Zakir Pacho, and Onkar Singh are among the notable individuals in attendance on this occasion.   [caption id="attachment_5677" align="alignnone" width="300"] Congress stands for secularism, unification : Wani[/caption]

CBI court rejects Lal Singh plea for appointing Warrant Officer

JAMMU: Lal Singh, the leader of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP), filed a plea seeking the appointment of a warrant officer, but Special Judge CBI Bala Joyti denied it. The court noted, "According to the prosecution, there is no provision for appointment of Warrant Officer in any circumstances under the Act and the present application being completely illegal and bad in law be rejected," after hearing arguments from Advocate Rajesh Kotwal for the applicant and APP Ashwani Khajuria for the Enforcement Directorate. At the bar, the investigating officer declared that Ch Lal Singh is fully conscious and stable and that there are no extraordinary or urgent circumstances that call for this court to exercise its extraordinary jurisdiction.Furthermore, Ch. Lal Singh, the accused, is being medically examined every 24 hours, is receiving appropriate medical supervision, and is fit to be in the Enforcement Directorate's custody; as a result, the request to appoint him as a warrant officer is being denied. The opposing side countered by restating that Ch Lal Singh is not receiving the necessary medical attention while in ED custody and that a warrant officer may be assigned. After taking into account competing arguments, the Special Judge concluded that "this court has taken care of him by permitting medicines as prescribed by the doctors keeping in view of his health status and also allowed him to share his diet chart with ED authorities vide order dated 13.11.2023 in CMP No. 305, as such, prayer in this application being devoid of any legal force is declined". Electoral democracy has no substitute in the World; hold Assembly elections in J&K: Azad

BANIHAL: Declaring that the people's representatives alone can deliver governance to them at their doorstep rather than the bureaucrats currently in charge, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and a former chief minister, asked for early assembly elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Speaking at a public rally in Neel, Banihal tehsil of Ramban district, Azad stated, "Elections in Jammu and Kashmir should be held without further delay since people repose faith in only electoral democracy and it has no substitute so far in the world.""The public can speak with their representative about daily concerns. "They are all too poor to be pounding on the doors of civil secretariats and officers," he remarked. When he forms the government, Azad said, Banihal will grow into a major economic hub for Jammu and Kashmir, and its residents will benefit from the tourism and agricultural industries. He also mentioned that hospitals, roads, and colleges were constructed in Banihal during his administration. "Before then, the area was landlocked, offering its residents little prospects for employment. People are no longer compelled to migrate in search of work because the economy has expanded and jobs for its citizens have increased since then," he said. Because Banihal is dear to Azad's heart, he stated that once his party assumes power, the area will undergo general socioeconomic development. "You people hold a special place in my heart, and I promise that Banihal will become one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, "People should come here and spend their time in a way that will boost the local economy." The chairman of the DPAP announced plans to build more hospitals and colleges to improve access to healthcare for the local population, as many cannot afford to travel far for medical care.One of his primary goals, according to him, is to guarantee that the youth of Banihal can compete on a national and international scale by offering high-quality education to the local population. He assured the public that not only would the development projects be approved, but also that the quality standard would not be compromised. "The educational facilities in Banihal must be of higher standards so that any youth here can compete with national and international students and crave out his or her own space," he commented. Although Azad was constantly focused on approving projects for Banihal, he claimed that because of the insensitivity of officials at the ground level, there were difficulties in carrying them out. "I won't let it happen again and ensure whatever is sanctioned is implemented on ground on a war footing basis," Azad stated. In the event that we win, we would approve the best hospital in Neel, a tehsil, a college, a tourism centre, and more roads. He blasted political parties for taking advantage of Banihal residents, claiming that the people had rejected each and every one of them.
