“My biggest asset is my honesty” says Kejriwal, alleges ED summons are “false”

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sent him a "false summons," adding that he had told the ED why the summons was unlawful and that his greatest quality and strength was his "honesty." The Chief Minister of Delhi stated, "All of the BJP's agencies have conducted numerous raids over the last two years, but not a single penny was found," during a press conference on Thursday. The chief minister of Delhi questioned why the notice was sent out so close to the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 and claimed that the BJP was trying to prevent him from running for office. "I wrote the question and sent it to ED after receiving legal advice that the summons was unlawful. Must I comply with an invalid summons? Should a formal summons be issued, I will honour it. Why am I being called right before the elections to the Lok Sabha? When CBI called me eight months ago, I went and provided all the information. They want to prevent me from running for the Lok Sabha elections today," he continued. The AAP chief went on to say that he has always fought for the country and will continue to do so until the day he dies. "Today, ED is being used to integrate opposition leaders into the BJP. Everyone who joins his party solves all of his problems. Honest leaders like Vijay Nair, Sanjay Singh, and Manish Sisodia have been imprisoned today. I have consistently battled for my nation. My every breath is dedicated to the nation. Together, we must save the nation. I need your help, I'm fighting them with everything I have," he declared. The chief minister of Delhi disregarded the ED's third summons, which was sent to him on Wednesday. In relation to the alleged Delhi liquor scam case, the ED issued CM Kejriwal a third summons on December 22 of last year, requesting that he appear before the agency on January 3. NEW DELHI: According to official sources on Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate may send Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a fourth summons to participate in the investigation into the purported excise policy case after reviewing his response regarding his refusal to appear before the agency. The 55-year-old national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declined to appear before the ED for the third time on Wednesday. She claimed that the ED's "non-disclosure and non-response approach" could not uphold the standards of justice, equity, or the law, and that the ED's "obstinacy" amounted to the agency taking on the roles of jury, judge, and executioner. According to the sources, Kejriwal's five-page response to the case's investigating officer, which he sent on Wednesday, is presently being examined by the ED, which may dismiss his claims that the summons was unlawful. According to the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the agency might send Kejriwal its fourth summons, they said. Previously, on November 2, December 21, 2023, and January 3 of this year, he was asked to surrender. JAMMU: During a public grievance redressal camp held at the office of Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North, District Development Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya today called for increased societal cooperation in combating the drug menace. SHO Janipur actively participated in the delicate discussions about drug eradication that took place in the camp. The DDC emphasised the importance of working together: "Public support is critical to make the society truly drug-free, even as the administration is committed to cracking down on drug peddlers and creating awareness." Electricity reaches 2 remote villages along LoC after 75 yrs of independence

KUPWARA: For the first time in their seventy-five years of independence, two isolated villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran Sector along the Line of Control were connected to electricity on Wednesday. "In a historic moment, the residents of Kundiyan and Patroo villages in the Keran area of the Kupwara district experienced the joy of electricity for the first time in 75 years," a government spokesperson stated. He said that Divisional Commissioner for Kashmir, V K Bhiduri, officially opened the two 250-KV sub stations established under the Samridh Seema Yojna. According to the spokesman, the people were grateful to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration for bringing grid connectivity to the previously isolated communities. "Cheers and jubilation filled the air as lights illuminated their houses, marking the end of decades-long wait," the spokesperson continued. He said that the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Electric Division, Kupwara, finished the electrification project in a record two months. KERALA: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the city of central Kerala on Wednesday to attend a women's convention organised by the BJP, he was greeted with a warm and enthusiastic reception. A lively atmosphere was created by the thousands of people, many of whom were ardent supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who lined both sides of his nearly two-kilometer roadshow from the General Hospital junction to the venue. The Prime Minister landed in a helicopter at the Kuttanallore helipad after launching a number of projects in Lakshadweep and reaching Kochi International Airport. New Delhi, Jan 3: The three-day conference of DGPs and IGPs in Jaipur starting on January 5 will cover a number of important topics, including pro-Khalistani groups' activities, cyber frauds, and terror threats in Jammu and Kashmir, officials announced on Wednesday. Islamabad, Jan 3: In a contempt case, Pakistan's highest electoral body on Wednesday indicted former prime minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail, and his former information minister, Fawad Chaudhry. Chaudhry, a prominent former member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), and Khan, 71, are the party's founding chairman and founder. In 2022, the two leaders were charged with using derogatory language directed at the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP) and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. The proceedings were held at the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan and Chaudhry are both detained on separate charges, by a four-member panel of the ECP.The chief election commissioner and the electoral body were allegedly insulted by the two leaders, who were indicted for their crimes. Both refuted the accusations listed in the charge sheet while they were present in the courtroom when the charges were read. The panel postponed the contempt case hearing until January 16 following the indictment. The case was initially being heard in the ECP building, but the police refused to indict Khan for security reasons. As a result, the commission was forced to move the hearing to the Adiala Jail on December 6. The indictment follows several delays in the case. Karni Sena Chief Murder Case: NIA Raids 31 Places In Haryana, Rajasthan

New Delhi, Jan 3: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched 31 locations in Rajasthan and Haryana on Wednesday in relation to the death of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. Following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central agency registered a case last month, and raids are still ongoing at the residences of suspects connected to it. These searches were conducted by several NIA teams working closely with the state Police. The action was taken a few days after the Rajasthan Police case was taken over by the NIA due to the possibility that prominent gangsters were involved in the murder.Three gunmen shot and killed the Karni Sena chief on December 5 at his Jaipur, Rajasthan, home. Gangster Rohit Godara, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took credit for Gogamedi's death shortly after it happened. On December 9, in Chandigarh, the two gunmen, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were taken into custody. They told the police that Godara was the one who gave the order to kill. The main inquiry also discovered that the gunmen communicated with Godara's close assistants, Virendra Chahan and Danaram, during their escape.Officials believe that Godara and Gogamedi's disagreement over obtaining a ransom from certain businessmen may have contributed to the murder. Together with her husband, another woman has been detained in relation to the case; she is accused of supplying weapons and setting up lodging. Amidst the gunfire, the third gunman lost his life. CCTV footage of Gogamedi's murder showed two men shooting at the Karni Sena chief several times while a third man stood at the door. After Gogamedi was seen unconscious on the ground due to gunshot wounds, he was rushed to the hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him deceased. The security guard for Gogamedi who was hurt in the incident also passed away later.
